A Return to the Wide World of Solid Foods...but Not *Quite* Yet.

Last time around I started solid foods with Cole right at 4 months...November 16th of 2009 (I'm a stickler for timing, ok?)  Unfortunately it was a pretty comical attempt as he still had the tongue thrust reflex, not to mention a severe hatred for rice cereal (can you blame him?)  We quickly moved on to oatmeal with some moderate success around 5 months but only combined with apple, and then tried vegetables - big negative.  Fruit was last and of course was loved by Cole, but by this point he was 6 months old.  I swore that the next time around I would be delaying solids until at least 6 months, mostly for convenience sake, but also because research indicates that breastfed babies technically do not need anything else for the first 12 months.

I have been seeing some excellent additions to the baby food options that were around when Cole was a little one.  We loved the pouch purees and pretty much lived on those alone.  Here are a few things on my list for Vera beginning January 5th of next year...

The Sprout baby food is wonderful! They even smell like real food!! Micaiah refused all prepackaged baby food, for the most part, but he loved every single one of these. Nice for days we had a sitter, a meal he just couldn't eat yet, or sheer exhaustion.

We LOVE Sprout too! Cole was totally addicted to the apple cinnamon oatmeal, hehehe. I noticed they have so many more options now which is great :-D In Indy I could only find it at Walmart and would make a special trip there each month (I have a serious Target addiction, so typically we never need to frequent Walmart).
