Excellent Eats

Over the past few weeks Jake and I have had some truly amazing food at some of the most seemingly mundane franchised restaurants. The first is an awesome appetizer at Longhorn Steakhouse: Housemade Chips & Dip.

Housemade Chips & Dip
Thinly sliced potato chips, made fresh to order, and sprinkled with sea salt and cracked black pepper. Served with Creamy BBQ dipping sauce.
Available for a Limited Time

Sadly this is a limited time thing, but perhaps they will add it to the permanent menu. You may be saying "potato chips, really Amanda?" and that is exactly what I thought initially when my mom told me about the dish. But it is the incredibly wonderful dipping sauce that totally makes this appetizer what it is. Try it while you can folks!

The second is another appetizer that we happened to try last night at Applebees: Wonton Tacos.

We got the pulled pork rendition of this delectable dish and WOW. Of course it probably contains 4 times your daily allowance of sodium in one serving, but again...WOW. I am sure the grilled chicken version is great as well, but we will certainly be having the pork Wonton Tacos again if we are ever at Applebees again.
